The Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) conducts a Written Examination for recruitment of Assistant Commandants (Group A) in the Central Armed Police Forces(CAPF) viz. Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force(CISF) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS:

  1. Nationality:

  2. You must be a Citizen of India.

  3. Gender:

  4. Both Male and Female candidates are eligible for appointment to the post of Assistant Commandants.

  5. Age Limits:

  6. A candidate must have attained the age of 20 years and must not have attained the age of 25 years. For detailed age relaxation criterion refer the notification.

  7. Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  8. A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree.

  9. Restriction on re-appearance of candidates finally selected/ recommended earlier:

  10. A candidate who has been finally selected on the basis of an earlier examination to the post of Assistant Commandants in any of the forces participating in the CAPF(AC) Examination will not be eligible to appear at a subsequent examination for recruitment of Assistant Commandants in the participating CAPFs.

  11. Physical Standards:

  12. Candidates must meet the prescribed Physical and Medical Standards for admission to CAPF(AC), Examination, 2017 specified in Appendix-V of the Notification.

  13. Possession of NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ Certificates:

  14. Possession of NCC ‘B’ or ‘C’ Certificate will be a desirable qualification. These qualifications will be given consideration at the time of Interview/Personality Test only.

Fee:

Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/- either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI.

Female/SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment of fee.

Selection Procedure/Scheme:

The Selection Procedure/Scheme of the Examination will be as follows:

  1. Written Examination:

    The written examination comprises two papers.

    1. Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence – 250 Marks

    2. The questions in this paper will be of Objective (Multiple Answers) Type in which the questions will be set in English as well as Hindi.

    3. Paper II: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension – 200 Marks

    4. In this paper candidates will be allowed the option of writing the Essay Component in English or Hindi, but the medium of Precis Writing, Comprehension Components and other communications/language skills will be English only.

    NOTE

    • There will be minimum qualifying marks separately in each Paper as may be fixed by theCommission in their discretion.
    • Paper-I will be evaluated first and evaluation of Paper-II will be doneonly of those candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I.
  2. Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests:

  3. Candidates who are declared qualified in the written examination will be summoned for Physical Standards/ Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests. Those candidates who meet the prescribed Physical Standards, specified in Appendix-VI of Notification, will be put through the Physical Efficiency Tests as indicated below:

    Pregnancy at the time of PET will be a disqualification and pregnant female candidate will be rejected.
    Medical Standards Testswill be conducted only to candidates who are declared qualified in the PET to check the standards specified in Appendix-VI of notification.

  4. Interview/Personality Test:

  5. The Interview/Personality Test will carry 150 Marks.

    Candidates who are declared qualified in the Medical Standards Tests, will be called for Interview/Personality Test to be conducted by UPSC.

    Candidates who are declared medically unfit but allowed to appear before the “Review Medical Board” on their appeal by the Appellate Authority will be called for Interview/Personality Tests provisionally.

    Candidates who are short-listed for Interview/Personality Test, including those shortlisted for Interview/Personality Test provisionally will be issued a Detailed Application Form (DAF) in which among other things, they will be required to indicate their preference of Forces.

  6. Final Selection/Merit:

  7. The merit list will be drawn on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test.
